MOGRT Import (Premiere)

Apply MOGRT-based pack elements to your timeline.

Updated · May 14, 2026

MOGRT (Motion Graphics Template) is Adobe's official format for text + graphic templates. Most DragMotion pack elements are MOGRT-based.

How it works

  1. You click a MOGRT effect
  2. DragMotion copies the MOGRT file into Premiere's Essential Graphics "Local" folder behind the scenes
  3. It's added to the active sequence as a new clip
  4. If a clip is selected, the MOGRT is placed on top of it; otherwise at the playhead position

Requirements

  • Open sequence — MOGRTs apply to the timeline
  • Premiere 2020 (CC 14.0+) — the MOGRT API stabilized in this version
  • Write access — Premiere needs to write to its Essential Graphics folder

Mac bonus: node binary

Mac users get a small (~30 MB) node binary auto-downloaded on first MOGRT use. It's needed to parse the MOGRT format. One-time, then cached.

Speed

MOGRT import is instant (milliseconds). Large MOGRTs with complex compositions may feel slow because of Premiere's preview render — that's a Premiere quirk, not the MOGRT itself.

Other formats

Some packs use placeholder + composition imports (a dragproj format). Same UX: one click → timeline.
